Adela Goldbard
(Mexico City, 1979)
Her work deals with the reconstruction and deconstruction of objects, buildings, events and texts through the creation of ephemeral sculptures and edifices and its documentation by means of photography and video. Her work nurtures from archive research and uses staging as a strategy for deceive and ambiguity.
Adela Goldbard has a BA in Hispanic Language and Literature (UNAM) and numerous studies in Photography (Escuela Activa and Centro de la Imagen, Mexico City). She was awarded the Centanario Prize at Zona MACO 2012, and the Aquisition Prize at the VII Biennial Monterrey Femsa 2007. She has received the Jóvenes Creadores Grant twice: 2013-14 and 2005-06, The Tierney Fellowship in 2008, and during 2010 her project, On The Road was produced through the Promotion and Joint Investment Program, FONCA funding. Her work has been exhibited in Berlin, Moscow, Den Hague, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Vancouver, New York, Washington, and widely in Mexico. Her work has been reviewed in numerous art books and magazines. She lives and works in Mexico City both as an artist and as a university lecturer at the National School of Arts “La Esmeralda”.
